Shawangunks, NY: November, 2002

November 3, 2002 my wife and I were in Long Island, NY and decided to go see the Gunks. I have wanted to see them for years. It was not a bad trip (a hair under 90 miles from Northern Long Island). The Gunks are considered by many to be the best climbing spot in the Eastern half of the United States. We got close enough to a couple of the faces to hear climbers shouting, "on belay" and "climbing!" I was surprised to hear climbers, considering that it was only 38 degrees F.
