2000 - Improving
For the most part, 2000 has been a strength improvement
year for me. As you can see here, I have developed
a climbing oriented workout. It is geared towards improving my skills
and strengthening my hands. I have noticed some drastic improvements in
my grip and pinch strength. However, I changed my workout to exclude legs
completely. So, my lats and forearms are starting to dwarf my thighs.
A bummer at the beach but a great help on the wall. I am trying to get
out on the crags more often but work, family and friends are making it
tough. My wife is still not into climbing but she is willing to be my
belay slave. I feel bad having her belay me but my climbing buddies are
punks and refuse to go out nearly as much as I need (want) to.
I have been doing a little bit more indoor climbing too. I have completed
3 (out of 4) walls on my home woody. Click here
to see it. To date the hardest climb I have green-pointed (top rope version
of a red-point) is 5.9. I am hoping that next spring with renewed strength
and skills I will tear past that barrier into the 5.10 arena. More on
that later.
